Thoughts about Themes

In last couple of days I dug deep into the Zikula theme system to find some very cool stuff: Themevariables are my latest discovery. But I also found the whole system pretty inconsistent. I know the development team is already working on the (re-)integration of pnRender and Theme. But there is more to it than just combining the two.

Testing out Doctrine

For a good while I was thinking about a bigger cut in the core which I want to discuss, as I wondered if we are perhaps doing too much unneeded effort with the 2.0 core. During the first steps to our new architecture (see this earlier post) doubts came into my mind about what we *are doing* and what we *should do*.

Thoughts about Avatars

Modularity is the major strength of Zikula - years of preaching and teaching succeeded in a lot of really modular solutions: No content module contains its own WYSIWYG-editor or comment function anymore. And that is good. New developer: Carsten Volmer aka herr.vorragend

He did lots of testing already, opened several tickets, made suggestions for improvement, streamlined templates and css and now he moved over to the dark side of power being able to commit to svn and close tickets: Carsten Volmer aka herr.vorragend is now officially a core developer.
